Iskcon devotee dies of cancer

BHUBANESWAR: An Iskcon devotee from the US died of cancer in Puri on Wednesday, police said. The deceased was identified as Carlos Nunez Mendez (46), police said.

"The foreigner had been suffering from cancer since long. He was first admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack," inspector-in-charge of Puri Town police station B N Mohanty said.

"He was a frequent visitor to Puri. We have informed his wife, who stays in Kolkata," Mohanty said. "Since he was a staunch believer of Jagannath, it was his last wish to breathe his last at the hallowed temple town to attain salvation," Carlos's friend said.
